Day 37 Sunday April 12th (83 days left) — After our night out the evening before celebrating Stephen Deboo’s birthday we slept in this morning. We grabbed a quick meal for lunch at Waves Grill and The Terrace Buffet. This afternoon we tried to book a plane or helicopter flight to The Great Barrier Reef but everything was booked so we will spend the day on an Oceania excursion to Airlie Beach. In the afternoon we went back to The Spa Deck for a jacuzzi soak and we both fell asleep on the deck. We returned to the cabin and I slept more while Jackie watched the baby eagles on TikTok. 🙂 This evening we had dinner at Toscano (the Italian restaurant on The Vista) before returning to the cabin to get some more sleep.

Lane’s lunch today was a sausage (hotdog) on a bun.

Jackie had turkey and roasted potatoes from The Terrace Cafe

This evening we ate at Toscano and her are a few photos as we walked on deck 14 to the restaurant. This is the view facing the back (aft) of the ship. The windowed area is Baristas with the library to the right. On deck 12 (below Baristas) is a large illuminated map showing the ship’s location.

Walking back to the cabin after dinner

We arrive to Airlie Beach tomorrow at 8am. In viewing the weather tomorrow, we are unsure if we will make the port since the wind is expected to reach 30-35 knots. There are a number of excursions to The Great Barrier Reef. We had an excursion booked but then were notified that the platform that we were going to snorkel from was no longer available. This meant we would be in the water for two hours and decided to cancel.

The ship is beautiful. The wind and rain has been following you since you left. It must be frustrating to have your excursions cancelled. Which restaurant has the low calorie foods. Have you tried some vegetarian dishes? Keep on traveling Jackie and Lane.
