Day 67 Wednesday May 13th (53 days to go) — Today was our last sea day until May 22nd as we begin hitting a number of ports with an overland tour included over the next eight days.

New item for today was yesterday John and Joan told us they requested grits for breakfast and the butler said that he would speak to the chef. So, as soon as we got back to the cabin, Jackie contacted Rince, our cabin’s butler to inquire about getting grits tomorrow morning. So, we ordered breakfast in the cabin and received grits today. It was hot and good, missing the salt and not enough butter and mine had clumps. But, after no grits in over two months, we appreciated having some this morning.

This morning Jackie started working on her Gimbal for her iPhone to get up to speed on using it on the safari and I went down to smoke a cigar. Before going smoke a cigar I met with Evan, the ship’s General Manager as I had a couple of questions. We had a good talk, and I appreciated him taking the time to meet with me.

We got back to cabin and showered and got dressed for a special luncheon today for ATW passengers which was held in the Polo Grill and Toscano. We had assigned seats and name cards on the table. We were seated at a table for six. At our table was a couple from Mexico and also our next-door neighbors, Jim and Willie. Now that we have shared a couple of meals with Jim and Willie, I think the four of us are more comfortable and along with the other couple, we spent the meal talking, laughing and joking. It was great that the new couple were seated with us as they were able to connect with Jim and Willie as all four speak Spanish and I believe they will get together for a meal. I thought they would leave the menu so I could take a photo, but the menus were picked up as we ordered. Started with shrimp ceviche as an appetizer and for the entree Jackie had tuna tataki and I had flank steak. I don’t remember what the dessert was, but all of the food was great.

This afternoon we went up to the Spa Deck and hung out as Jackie tried to learn more about her iPhone device and I fell asleep after taking a Mounjaro injection yesterday. Tonight will be dinner in The Terrace Cafe (buffet, cafeteria, whatever other name I have called it. 🙂 )

We got the grits in the cabin this morning.

The name cards that were on the table in The Polo Grill and the invitation we had received.

Tomorrow we arrive to the African mainland for the first time with a stop in Maputo, Mozambique. We laugh that we are going to African countries, but I guess when doing a world cruise, you will see new countries, even if those are in Africa.
