Oceania cruises as part of The World Cruise provided shipping four pieces of luggage through Luggage Forward to San Diego with each piece weighing no more than 50 pounds. We also shipped two pieces of 50 pounds and two pieces of 25 pounds each. It might seem like a lot of clothes, but actually the clothes maybe filled four of the eight pieces of luggage. One of the 25-pound pieces was filled with snorkel equipment, and one of the 25-pound pieces was filled with medication. When we get on the ship, hopefully the luggage will be waiting for us in the cabin. We also have an Amazon order that was shipped to the hotel and should be there when we arrive on March 5th.

Photo of how the house looked for a few days as we pulled out clothing and had items spread in both bedrooms before beginning to place into bags that we vacuumed sealed.

One of the smaller bags filled with medicine, most of it we hope will not be needed.

Black meds bag 23 lbs

Luggage lined up in the garage waiting for UPS pickup. The driver saw all the bags and laughing told me — She finally kicked you out, huh?

Luggage tag indicating our cabin number. We received confirmation from Luggage Forward that our luggage reached San Diego four days after picked up from home.

Oceania’s list of shore excursions for the ports. We decided to use excursion credit to book some of these excursions through Oceania. Look at the number of pages we placed into a binder!!! We booked excursions through Phuket, Thailand and then in the British Isles and Iceland. We think that once we get to Phuket, the itinerary will be changed due to the conflict in Iran and the pirates still roaming the Suez Canal.

Luggage Forward has worked for us in the past. One time I went cheap and used a different company. It was a near disaster as we could not get our luggage out of customs in Norway and the company was of no help. If not for a nice lady with DHL, the luggage might still be in Norway.

I hope you don’t need all the meds either, but from experience it’s good to have them! Travel safely and ENJOY!!

What do you do about prescription meds? Are you able to get more than 90 days at once?

We could only get a 90 day supply and paid out of pocket for 30 additional days. We found a pharmacy that charged us cost + 20% so it was not too expensive for the additional month.

    Curious…
    (1) Was Oceania’s list of shore excursions 3-hold punched and in a binder or did you do that yourselves?
    (2) Reason for vacuum sealing the meds?
    TIA

We received a list of excursions from our travel agent via email. Printed off the document and three hole punch ourselves and placed into the binder. Figured it would be easier and less messy to keep up with the excursions we liked by placing tabs on the pages.

We have found for whatever reason that using the vacuum sealer reduces the total weight of the items in the luggage. For the medication it also kept the bottles of meds from rolling around.

Thanks! BTW, loved seeing the photo of all your luggage. I feel better now with what I’m planning to bring on 27ATW.
